Montecito Library and UC Master Gardeners invite the community for a presentation focused on gardening and environmental stewardship!

Cover crops can be a great way to build healthy soils, both in the ground and in raised beds, and can be attractive seasonal additions to your garden. This talk will cover the benefits of cover crops for soil and pollinators; when and how to plant them; recommended species for Santa Barbara County; and using them for mulch or compost. Seed packets for some popular fall cover crops will be available.

Join Teens Teach Tech: Apply by October 24!

Santa Barbara Public Library (SBPL) is seeking teen volunteers, aged 14-17, to participate in Teens Teach Tech, a hands-on volunteer program where teens will learn about robotics and coding and develop engaging programs for their peers and younger children.

Working in pairs, participants will collaborate to create, plan, and lead one robotics program for children and one program for teens. This group of volunteers will deliver a series of six robotics programs at SBPL giving participants an opportunity to share and expand their STEM experience and workplace readiness, while inspiring others to explore technology. Teens will build skills in teamwork, organization, problem-solving, and public speaking.
