Do you love writing, art, photography or music? Share your creative and/or literary talents through the Young Artists and Authors Showcase! The top five entries for each category will be submitted to Sister Cities International in Washington, D.C. to compete with submissions from other Sister Cities organizations around the world. Deadline to submit a local entry is March 14.

We’re now accepting entries for the 2025 Young Artists and Authors Showcase. Students 12-18 years old from Santa Clarita and its sister cities — Sariaya, Philippines and Tena, Ecuador — are invited to showcase their artistic and literary talents through original art (classic or digital medium), essay, poetry, photography, or music. This year's theme, “Friendship: The Heartbeat of Global Peace,” highlights the power of friendship in fostering understanding, collaboration and peace among nations.

The Santa Clarita City Council recognized the 2024 Young Artists and Authors Showcase winners at their November 12th meeting. Also recognized was Brant Botton, an English teacher from Saugus High School, who has been championing this program and encouraging his students’ participation for years. City Council gave a shout-out as well to two students from Santa Clarita and Sariaya, Philippines who won third place and second place, respectively, at the international showcase.
