Dedication of Fire Station 150
April 5, 2013
On March 29, Fire Chief Daryl Osby was joined by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar and local residents to officially celebrate the grand opening of Fire Station 150 in Santa Clarita. Fire Station 150 is the new home of Hazardous Materials Task Force 150, Battalion 22 and Division III Headquarters for the Santa Clarita Valley, and will serve as a cornerstone for this rapidly growing community.
“Our number one mission is to protect lives and property by having a station closer and more proximal to calls so [firefighters] can get there quicker,” said Osby. “This new fire station is also community oriented, we invite community members to come to the station and visit.”
The dedication ceremony included a static display of our apparatus, station tours and an opportunity for the public to meet their local firefighters. Attendees were also able to view the unique artwork included in the design of this state of the art station, including a terrazzo tile flooring depicting an aerial view of the terrain surrounding the station, a glazed ceramic tile wall mural depicting a firefighter watching over the Santa Clarita hills and a painted canvas wall mural illustrating firefighters strategizing at a command post during a wildland incident. Fire Station 150 officially went into service on February 1, 2013, and is expected to respond to 1,800 calls for service each year.

On February 1, new Fire Station 150 was officially in service and the event was commemorated with a flag raising ceremony. Fire Captains Dave Laub and Dana Provost, along with the crews from Hazardous Materials Squad 150 and Engine 150, saluted the flag as the sun came over the mountains. Laub described the flag ceremony as important because, “the station is historic and will be here long after we are gone with firefighters continuing to respond to the public safety needs of the community we serve.”
Fire Station 150 will also serve as the new Division III Headquarters as well as Battalion 22 Headquarters. Following the flag ceremony, Acting Assistant Chief Greg Hisel commended the station personnel for their dedicated efforts to move the Haz Maz Task Force from Fire Station 76 across town, acknowledging it as a major undertaking.
The new 19,667-square- foot fire station consists of a three-bay apparatus room, main office, training room, day room, kitchen, exercise room, Battalion Chief office with dormitory, Assistant Chief’s office with dormitory and dormitory quarters for 10 personnel. The total cost to build the station, including land acquisition, was $20 million. Fire Station 150 is expected to respond to 1,800 calls for service each year.
“Fire Station 150 is a great addition to the Canyon Country area and will serve the Santa Clarita Valley well for many years to come,” said Hisel. “The community continues to grow in the Santa Clarita Valley and the Fire District is keeping pace in order to continue to provide the highest level of public safety services possible.”
