🏃♂️🔦 RUNNING TO REMEMBER 🔦🏃♀️
This past Saturday night, members of our community stepped up to honor the fallen in a powerful way.
We want to send a massive shoutout to the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team and our dedicated SCV Sheriff’s Station Deputies who laced up their running shoes for the 2026 Memorial Torch Relay Run!
Representing SCV SAR through the night were three of our incredible rescue members:
Gauthier Chau-pech
Sean O'Connor
Juan Flores
Side-by-side with our local deputies, they carried the torch through the darkness, keeping the memory of our fallen heroes burning bright. Whether they are climbing rugged mountains to save a lost hiker or running miles at midnight to honor a legacy, these men and women embody true service and sacrifice.
Thank you to everyone who ran, supported, and cheered them on. We are incredibly proud of our SCV emergency response family! 💙🏃♂️🔥

🧗♂️ HIGH-FLYING REPELLING DAY! 🧗♀️
The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team had an absolute blast hosting the Los Angeles County Sheriff's VIDA (Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives) kids for an action-packed repelling day at Frenchman Flat! ⛰️✨
From learning knots to conquering fears and dropping down those canyon walls, these incredible youth showed major grit, teamwork, and determination. Our rescue team members loved teaching them the ropes (literally!) and sharing a day focused on building confidence, trust, and resilience.
Big shoutout to the amazing VIDA program for all they do to empower youth in our community, and to these kids for stepping out of their comfort zones and crushing it today! 💪🔥
📸 Highlights of the Day:
The Prep: Learning the gear, safety checks, and overcoming those first-step jitters.
The Descent: Walking backward off a bridge? No problem for these kids!
The Teamwork: Endless cheering, high-fives, and community bonding at Frenchman Flat.

We are so proud of our Search & Rescue volunteers. They were honored at a recognition luncheon on Saturday for their work during the Eaton and Palisades fires.
Their dedication made a difference when it mattered most- rescuing residents under hazardous conditions and, in the weeks that followed, helping locate missing persons.

Proud moment for the Santa Clarita Valley Search & Rescue Team! 🇺🇸
Today, our dedicated volunteers joined rescue teams from across Southern California at Horsemen's Center Park in Apple Valley for the California Region Mountain Rescue Association (CRMRA) Technical Rock Rescue recertification.
They faced challenging scenarios, demonstrated top-notch skills in rope rescue techniques, and passed with flying colors! 💪🪢
This annual evaluation keeps our teams sharp and ready to respond to real-world emergencies in tough terrain—whether it's a stranded hiker or a complex technical extraction.
Huge thanks to all the participants, proctors, and supporting teams for making it happen. Shoutout to our SCV SAR crew—you make us proud every day!
Stay safe out there, Santa Clarita. We're always ready when you need us. ❤️

This past Sunday evening at approximately 9:50 PM, SCVSAR was paged out to help a family that became stuck while off-roading. After several attempts to reach them by 4x4 truck, the team eventually had to hike to them. After all the heavy rains we experienced in the past few weeks, the trails were not stable. At approximately 12:30am the team finally reached our stranded family. We secured their vehicle and hiked them back to our warm and waiting rescue truck. They were all very grateful, especially the kids!
