💜 Healthy relationships start with learning, understanding, and respect!
Our incredible Community Outreach, Resources & Education (CORE) Team has been busy connecting with middle and high school students across our community, helping them build the skills to develop healthy relationships, communicate effectively, set boundaries, and stand up for themselves and others.
Some recent highlights include:
💜 Four Lunch & Learn sessions at local middle and high schools.
💜 Five cohorts of students completing our CORE Junior High Workshop Series.
💜 245 junior high school surveys completed, helping us better understand what students are learning and how we can continue improving our prevention programs.
But sometimes, one conversation makes the greatest impact.
Following a workshop at La Mesa Middle School, a student approached our team for additional help navigating an uncomfortable situation involving friends and hurtful comments. After practicing healthy communication techniques and using “I” statements, the student shared, "I feel more confident."
And that is exactly why this work matters!
Teaching young people how to recognize unhealthy behaviors, communicate respectfully, advocate for themselves, and treat others with kindness can make a lasting difference.
A huge thank you to our CORE Team and our school partners for creating opportunities for students to learn, ask questions, and feel supported.
