One week remains before the Nov. 1, 2026, Universal Service Ordinance compliance deadline.

If you own a developed property in unincorporated Santa Cruz County and have not yet established waste collection service or registered as a self-hauler, immediate action is needed.

The ordinance requires every developed property to properly manage garbage, recycling and organics. These requirements help keep our communities clean, reduce illegal dumping, increase recycling and composting, and support compliance with state environmental laws.

The County and GreenWaste Recovery has notified non-compliant property owners with letters explaining the requirements and available compliance options. If you have not yet complied, now is the time to act.

Visit Santacruzcountyca.gov/universalservice to learn how to comply before Nov. 1.
