This is Annalise, Julie and myself in a selfie taken back in May as we were kicking off the summer series, Spotlight on the Wharf. 💙
The 3 of us decided to do Spotlight to highlight the awesomeness that is the Santa Cruz Wharf and share things a lot of people may not have known about the wharf, I know I learned a lot about the Wharf! 💙
We also wanted to bring attention to all of the businesses, everyone one of them a small, locally owned business, that call the wharf home and cumulatively, employ about 400 people. 💙
All of the wharf businesses were invited to be part of the series, and so many of them welcomed us into their shops and restaurants. It was an honor to talk with these owners and managers and I thank every one of you for taking the time to talk with us. 💙
We also talked with many City of Santa Cruz leaders, including Mayor Keeley and a number of department heads. We even talked with one of the Wharf’s neighbors, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center. Thank you to every one of you for finding time in your busy schedules to join us for a chat on the wharf! 💙
A huge shoutout to my partners in making Spotlight a reality, it turned out that Annalise, Julie and myself were a dream team in many ways. We were all born in Santa Cruz, we’ve all worked on the wharf and most importantly share a great love for the Santa Cruz Wharf and the Santa Cruz community. Thank you Annalise and Julie, this wouldn’t have been possible without the 3 of us working together as team! I had an amazingly fun time doing 24 episodes and over 100 clips with both of you. 💙
A final thank you to every one of you that tuned in to Spotlight on the Wharf! 💙
I will personally continue supporting all of the wharf businesses, I’ve gained so much knowledge and respect for all of them that call the wharf their home and believe we can build on what we’ve already done. 💙
