⚠️Advisory: Temporary Closure of Navajo Lake Marina at Navajo Lake State Park

The New Mexico State Parks Division is advising the public that the marina at Navajo Lake State Park is temporarily closed due to rapidly rising water levels. Marina staff are actively managing and relocating marina structures to ensure safety for visitors, concessionaires, and equipment.

This closure is expected to remain in place for at least 24 hours while crews work to stabilize conditions.

For your safety, please avoid the marina area and follow all posted signs and staff instructions. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this necessary operational pause.

Updates will be shared as soon as conditions allow the marina to reopen.

⚠️ Severe Weather Alert – Northwest New Mexico!

Extreme weather is impacting the northwest part of the state. Conditions are changing rapidly and some roads may become impassable.

Flooding & Tornado Advisory
Moisture moving into New Mexico is causing significant flooding risks and dangerous road conditions, especially near the San Juan River.
• If you are in low lying or flood prone areas, move to higher ground immediately.
• Do NOT drive through flooded roads—water depth and damage are often impossible to see.
• Stay alert and monitor updates from the National Weather Service and local officials.

Please stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel.

Last night, the Globito Glow returned to Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, and we were thrilled to have the New Mexico State Parks balloon shining bright in celebration of the Route 66 Centennial! 🎈✨

A special thank‑you to Zoo Director Andrea Falcetto from Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park for representing the Southeast region and our state parks.

We also extend a big thank‑you to the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce for supporting the creation of a balloon that highlights the wonderful parks in your area.

What a beautiful evening filled with community spirit and true New Mexico magic!

Good news! The Marina del Sur boat ramp at Elephant Butte Lake State Park is officially open!

Effective immediately, the ramp is available for launching and loading vessels. Park staff remind visitors to remain cautious of lake debris and shallow areas due to recent changes in water levels. Previously visible hazards may now be hidden just below the surface.

Stay safe and always wear your lifejacket!
