Today, we celebrated the retirement of LP Gas Bureau Chief James Morrison after 20 years of dedicated service to RLD. James began his career with the LP Gas Bureau as an inspector and rose to become Bureau Chief.

Throughout his career, James has been a steadfast advocate for both the LP gas industry and public safety, helping ensure the safe operation of propane-fueled equipment across New Mexico. His expertise and commitment played a key role in supporting major events such as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the New Mexico State Fair, and numerous concerts and film sets.

We are grateful for James’s years of service, leadership, and dedication, and we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement!

This National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take a moment to brush up on your cybersecurity knowledge to ensure you’re protecting your personal and financial information from fraudsters who might be using artificial intelligence.

Keep an eye out for these red flags:
- Requests for payment via cryptocurrency or cash couriers
- Pressure to act quickly
- Claims of high returns using AI software that “can’t lose”
- Online romances that encourage investments
- Glitches in video or audio or other signs of tampering

🚫 Don’t share bank info, SSN, or copies of your ID or passport with ANYONE online.

🕵️‍♀️ Always research celebrity-endorsed investments to verify legitimacy.

Before you start your next home improvement project, check to make sure you're working a contractor licensed with the New Mexico Construction Industries Division.

Unlicensed contractors cannot obtain permits. Meaning there will be no inspection to confirm if the project is constructed properly. This can lead to safety issues or impact resale values.

Don't risk it! Know the warning signs of unlicensed contracting:
- Says a permit isn’t required or asks you to obtain one for them
- Demands a large upfront or cash-only payment
- Lacks proof of insurance
- Won’t provide an official invoice or contract
- Only works on weekends or after hours
- No license info on ads, vehicles, or documents

Protect yourself! Verify a license or file a complaint for unlicensed contracting by visiting https://www.rld.nm.gov/construction-industries/.

Before you book a bounce house for your next celebration, make sure the inflatable operator is registered with the New Mexico Carnival Ride Insurance Program.

Why it matters:
⚠️ Unregistered inflatables may lack required insurance
⚠️ Skip annual safety inspections
⚠️ Operate during unsafe weather like high winds
⚠️ Use improper or inadequate safety equipment

Keep the fun safe. Ask your operator if they’re registered with the State of New Mexico’s Carnival Ride Insurance Program.
