Saturday's district training involved a challenging "fake dummy" patient extrication from the underground well housing at Station 2. The area was surveyed for hazards and monitored throughout.
This training's objective was increase awareness for members that this type of incident requires specialized teams to be called in when certain hazards are found and how confined space is defined before just jumping in for a patient.
Certifications of specialized teams include SCBA qualifications and technical rescue disciplines of confined space and rope rescue.
Our patient was safety packaged using a SKED, then slid up the ladder using a simple 3:1 Z-drag rope system anchored off of Rescue 1.
Our district members are 100% volunteer and support specialized team and regional crew response everyday. If you are interested and want to know more about our volunteer opportunities please email [email protected].
