It's the people who make the difference—and this morning was about celebrating them!

Spartans from all four campuses came together for breakfast and a districtwide assembly to celebrate our 2027 Teachers and Support Staff Members of the Year!

🏆 Saraland Early Education Center
Teacher of the Year — Shelley Merritt
Support Staff of the Year — Madeleine Evans

🏆 Saraland Elementary School
Teacher of the Year — Molly Powell
Support Staff of the Year — Kelly Harrison

🏆 Saraland Middle School
Teacher of the Year — Bridget Duke
Support Staff of the Year — Michelle Ulmer

🏆 Saraland High School
Teacher of the Year — Stacey Hall
Support Staff of the Year — Michelle Dobbins

And there were more than 54,000 reasons to celebrate 🎉 The Sparty Foundation awarded each Teacher of the Year a $1,000 classroom grant and funded an additional $50,475 in faculty and staff grant proposals—turning great ideas into new opportunities for our students.

Congratulations to our honorees, and thank you, Sparty Foundation, for making a difference across Saraland City Schools!

The ALL IN Chip goes to Ms. Carla Cayton!

Sometimes meeting a student’s needs takes a little extra—and Ms. Carla never hesitates to make it happen. Nurse Harrison recognized her for being ALL IN and working with our nursing staff to meet specialized dietary needs, with a shoutout to Ms. Pam and the café staff for helping make it happen.

A little extra can make a big difference ❤️

Saraland City Schools hosted its fall Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Committee meeting, bringing together students, teachers, and industry representatives to discuss the impact of CTE programs on college and career readiness.
Student leaders shared how their programs are helping them develop valuable hands-on skills and industry knowledge while also fostering a strong sense of connection, teamwork, and purpose. Industry representatives provided feedback on program effectiveness and toured classrooms to gain a firsthand look at what students are learning and how the next generation of skilled workers is being prepared.
As a token of appreciation, guests received custom stone coasters created by students in the Saraland High School Print Lab.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's fall CTE Advisory Committee meeting. Partnerships like these help shape the future of our programs and ensure that our students graduate prepared for success in the workforce, college, and beyond. CTE is learning that works.
