The Saranac Community Fire Department would like to proudly recognize Firefighter Brendon Lake as he retires after 27 years of dedicated service to our department and the Saranac community.
Brendon’s story with the fire department began as a junior firefighter. What started as a young person answering the call to serve grew into 27 years of commitment, friendship, brotherhood, and service to the people of this community.
Over the years, Brendon has stood alongside his fellow firefighters through countless calls, trainings, long nights, difficult scenes, and the many moments that come with being a member of the fire service. He has given his time, his energy, and a part of himself to this department and to the community he has proudly served.
Brendon, from the entire SCFD, thank you for showing up, answering the call, and for standing beside your brothers and sisters. And most importantly, thank you for giving 27 years of your life in service to others.
Congratulations Brendon on your retirement! It has been an honor to serve along side you!

The SCFD was honored to support Neighbors United as they came through the area today on their annual Walk for the Red! They are a fantastic group of people who walk to raise money for firefighters fighting cancer in Michigan! We were grateful to support a great group and a great cause!

Another year and another stair climb in the books! The SCFD had a team attend the Grand Rapids 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb this morning! It’s always an honor to climb in remembrance of those who never came home that day!

Today marks 25 years since our nation was attacked.

Today, we take a moment to remember the lives that were lost on September 11th, 2001 and we honor the memories of the firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel who stepped up to answer the call and never came home.

For those in the fire service, September 11 will always be a reminder of what it means to answer the call — no matter the danger.
25 years later, we remember their sacrifice, honor their courage, and do our best to carry on their legacy. We will never forget.
