Rep. Steube Leads Myakka River Letter to Natural Resources Committee – Congressman Steube 08/24/2025

Support local efforts to designate our beloved Myakka River in Sarasota County as a Federal Partnership Wild and Scenic River. This designation will further empower us to protect and enhance the Myakka’s outstanding values, to the benefit of human and natural communities.

With Congressman Greg Steube's timely H.R 642 bill, our community has come together to increase meaningful support of our beloved Myakka River. And today, in an important next step in the lengthy designation process, the Congressman led a letter calling for the House Committee on Natural Resources to advance H.R. 642, the Myakka Wild and Scenic River Act of 2025.

Artificial grass can worsen the heat island effect in our cities. It also breaks down into harmful microplastics that harm wildlife and human health. Just say NO to fake grass.

And that just one reason why artificial grass is a NO from me.

A bubble barrier to help collect and filter plastic from waterways. This is a cool solution to plastic pollution because it doesn’t restrict fish & other wildlife movement. 🐠 🐬 🐢
