At the Junior League of Sarasota, our members don’t just volunteer, they lead, learn, and create meaningful change. From supporting local nonprofits to developing leadership skills and building lifelong friendships, the impact goes far beyond the hours served.

The final DIAD was held this past weekend at Freedom House where volunteers cleaned and painted the interior common area with a fresh coat of paint and assembled furniture. Freedom House, a program of Bailes Consulting Services, provides safe, stable housing for parents in recovery from addiction and homelessness, allowing them to retain custody of their children under five while rebuilding their lives. A nurturing, dignified home environment is essential to supporting the emotional and mental well-being of both parents and children during recovery. Thank you, volunteers!!

A small but mighty group of volunteers assembled Welcome Home Baskets for new residents at Streets of Paradise at the JLS HQ last week. On top of assembling packages that contained home essentials like soap, toilet paper, sponges and other cleaning supplies, our volunteers also wrote notes to go along with each basket, welcoming the resident home.

Streets of Paradise began in 2008 as a grassroots mutual aid effort, providing furniture and household essentials to individuals and families moving from homelessness, shelters, or foster care into permanent housing. Today, their Street-to-Home program has furnished over 3,000 homes across Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Thank you to everyone who supported in the Giving Challenge! Thanks to your generous donations and matching from the Patterson Foundation, we were able to raise a total of $17,861 which will go toward supporting our Legacy Project - Furnishing Hope at Nancy’s Village.

In partnership with Community Assisted & Supported Living (CASL), this initiative will furnish five new residences—20 homes at Nancy’s Village in Sarasota—for youth aging out of foster care.
