Action Alert: Public Hearings for Revision to Florida Constitution
The Florida Constitution Revision Committee wants to change our constitution! They want to delete this clause:
“No revenue of the state or any political subdivision, or agency thereof shall ever be taken from the public treasury directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect or religious denomination, or in aid of any sectarian institution."
In the state constitution since 1885, it has worked well for everyone. Deleting it opens the door to fund voucher schools. Evidence shows voucher schools have been a waste of money, diverting funds from the public schools which serve all our children.
Public hearings will begin, throughout Florida, on Tuesday March 13, 2018, at 1:00 PM. Hosted by the Florida Constitution Revision Committee, to get feedback from you. The hearing closest to Sarasota will take place at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg.
Americans United for Separation of Church & State - Sarasota/Manatee Chapter - will have members at the hearing. Will you attend? Contact us for more information!

Come out and join the festivities! Sarasota Pride is scheduled for Saturday October 21, 2017 from Noon to 6 PM. Located at J.D. Hamel Park, at Gulfstream and Main. Music starts at noon with The Cheaters, followed by Blue Star Sound, Trans Sister Radio, and Divine AF. There will be food trucks galore, including B's Cool Treats, TK Grill, and Baja Boys.
