POSITIVE UPDATE: Wild for Life, the regionโ€™s busiest wildlife rehabilitation center, is moving to a larger Saratoga Springs property as it expands its care for injured wild animals. NewsChannel 13's Subrina Dhammi first introduced you to Wild for Life last year, when a beaver was the ring bearer in the founder's wedding, Alexis Broz-Laroche. ๐Ÿ’

The baby beavers are gaining a lot of skills and strength when it comes to maneuvering and cutting tree branches. Here's a little clip of everyone active snacking last night on some birch branches and a little celery as a fun enrichment food. The baby beavers were not really interested in the celery, but Bo appreciated it. We keep our beavers diets as varied as possible with mostly natural food sources harvested from the wild, like cattails, water lilies, sedges, poplar, willow and birch trees, as well as fresh produce from the grocery store/farmers market/donations.
As a reminder the three young beavers in this video are named Minnow, Raven, and Penny, and they will be released the wild in spring/summer of 2028. The larger beaver, Bo, is a permanent ambassador at the rescue, she is non-releasable and has many important jobs here, including helping foster the younger beavers. ๐Ÿฆซ

With so much going on around here I almost forgot that today is my birthday!
Today I am 33, and what and exciting, wild, 33 years it has been!
I feel blessed in every way and rich beyond measure to be sitting where I am today, surrounded by the most loving and supportive family and friends (of so many different species) and about to welcome our first human baby with the man I adore.
I can honestly say that I am living my dream, and my only birthday wish is to keep seeing it grow, to encompass helping more animals and supporting the people in our area who care for them. Building a place for animals to heal and for humans to learn is the dream, and a future that our little human can grow up in where we live side-by-side with our wild neighbors in a thriving ecosystem.

Thanks for helping my birthday wishes and dream come true!

Two years ago I got a call from a photographer who I had modeled for in the past to do a photoshoot in the Adirondacks at Mt. Jo overlooking Heart Lake.
Little did I know that it was a setup, and that photoshoot would become mine and Eric's unforgettable engagement photos๐Ÿงก๐Ÿฅฐ
So now, two years later, I was seeing what out of my closet still fit on my new very pregnant body, and found that I could still zip the engagement dress!
Back up the mountain we hiked, 32 weeks pregnant, to recreate the magic of our engagement photos as maternity photos.
I am so in love with these pictures, and the memories of growing our family together that they represent. I cant wait to return next year and have our baby boy join the traditionโค๏ธ
I think these photos also represent the wonder of women's bodies to grow and change throughout the seasons of our lives.
Of course what you can't see in the recent photos is the battle my body was fighting against a kidney infection that would land me in the hospital for days just hours after this hike๐Ÿ˜… Silly me I thought I had just pulled a muscle and was determined to hike through it. Turns out the increasing pain and nausea was actually sepsis on the horizon, and the chilly 35 degree temps and wind weren't helping.
Our bodies really are so incredible and strong and resilient beyond measure, and mine kept our baby safe and unbothered throughout the ordeal and I was able to get swift medical treatment and heal quickly. All is well that ends well.

Thank you Gabe Dickens for documenting these memories for us with your artistic vision!

I'm still stuck in the hospital, probably for the next few days, so Delaney, my mom, and the other volunteers have been holding down the fort, making sure everyone is healthy and happy without me so that I can just focus on getting better.
It is hard for me to be away from the animals, especially with so much excitement happening at the rescue these days and so much to do, I feel like I am missing out. Delaney Dyer sent me these adorable photos of the animals to cheer me up, and it makes me extra happy to see Bo and Minnow becoming such good friends. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Weโ€™ve been having a lot of fun lately working with local businesses and organizations to put their stories, events and causes on our cans.

Our latest community collaboration is with Wild For Life inc., a local wildlife rehabilitation organization that cares for injured and orphaned wildlife and works to return them to the wild.

These special labels are helping spread the word about Wild For Lifeโ€™s inaugural Beaver Ball, happening October 30 at Universal Preservation Hall. The fundraising gala supports their work โ€” including plans for a dedicated wildlife health clinic and expanded rehabilitation facilities.

And because one b**r is never enough, we made two. ๐Ÿฆซ๐Ÿบ

Both are available now in our taproom, and weโ€™ll also be serving them at the Beaver Ball at the end of October.

Of course, we hope you pick some up because theyโ€™re delicious. But thereโ€™s another reason, too: every can that heads out into the community helps put Wild For Life and the Beaver Ball in front of another set of eyes.
