🚧 JACKSON STREETSCAPE PROJECT UPDATE 🚧

The next phase of construction is moving forward! Jackson Avenue will be closed between Magnolia Street and Highway A1A beginning today. Please refer to the map for detour routes and plan accordingly.

➑️ Westbound traffic from A1A will need to detour via Grant Avenue or Scorpion Court.
➑️ Northbound traffic on Magnolia Street can still turn west onto Jackson Avenue.

⏱️ This phase is expected to last approximately two weeks, followed by cleanup and preparation for landscaping and paving.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Jackson Avenue is home to three schools. Please watch for students, follow posted detours, and obey all school zone speed limits.

We appreciate your patience as we continue improving our community! Stay tuned for additional updates.

We would also like to give a very special acknowledgment to our own Lieutenant Eric Anderson, who proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS George Washington.

For the Anderson family, Navy service continues into the next generation. This past week, Lt. Anderson, his wife Kim, and their family proudly welcomed home their son, Eric, following his deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The aircraft carrier spent an incredible 321 days on deployment, making it the second-longest U.S. aircraft carrier deployment since the end of the Cold War.

We are incredibly thankful to the Anderson family for their continued commitment, sacrifice, and service to our country and our community. Having both father and son answer the call to serve is something truly worthy of recognition.

To Lt. Anderson, Eric, and all past and present Sailors β€” thank you for your service.

βš“ Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy!
Honor. Courage. Commitment

Please plan for a little extra travel time and be especially mindful of students walking or biking to and from school.

We had a great time last Friday morning joining Surfside Elementary for their Walk & Roll to School Day! πŸ’™

Our officers were out alongside the Satellite Beach Fire Department, crossing guards, Surfside staff, parents, and neighbors to cheer on students as they walked and rolled their way to school. πŸš“πŸš’πŸ‘ŸπŸš²

A special shout-out to ours SROs, officers and command staff who helped make the morning a success! πŸ‘πŸΎ

We always enjoy opportunities like this to spend time with our students while promoting safe and active ways to get to school.

Thanks for letting us be part of the fun, Panthers! πŸ’™

Building Stronger Officers Through Career Development

Satellite Beach Police Officers voluntarily participate in the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) as part of our department’s Career Development Program.

The program encourages officers to continue challenging themselves in three key areas:
πŸ“š Educational Achievements
πŸ’ͺ Physical Fitness Standards
πŸ† Professional Achievements

The PAT is a timed course designed to test physical abilities directly related to the demands of law enforcement. Officers complete a series of challenges, including two 220-yard runs, an obstacle course, dragging a 150-pound dummy 100 feet, and a simulated fi****ms exercise.

Participation in the PAT is one more way our officers continue working to maintain the physical readiness needed to serve our community safely and effectively.

πŸ’œ October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month πŸ’œ

Throughout October, the Satellite Beach Police Department joins communities across the country in raising awareness about domestic violence, supporting survivors, and encouraging conversations that can help break the cycle of abuse.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. We encourage our community to believe, listen, support, educate, and empower those who may be experiencing abuse.

Together, we can break the silence, support survivors, and help build a safer community. πŸ’œ

Awareness today. Change tomorrow.

Wednesday evening, Officer Jeremy Verhagen and Deputy Chief Steve Owens were officially sworn in before the Satellite Beach City Council!

Deputy Chief Steve Owens has proudly served our department since January 2007. His dedication extends beyond law enforcement through his continued involvement in community events and initiatives that bring our residents together.

His years of experience, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our department and the Satellite Beach community have led him to this exciting next chapter as Deputy Chief.
