🎬 FILMS AGAINST FASCISM: What holds a country together when its people no longer share the same vision of America? From UNION co-director Stephen Maing and filmmaker Eric Daniel Metzgar, The Great Experiment travels across a deeply divided nation during Trump’s first term, capturing the conflicts and hopes shaping our democracy.

Join us in Saugerties for the screening and a conversation afterward about where we go from here. With the midterms approaching, let’s channel our outrage into participation—and take an active role in reclaiming our country’s future.

Saugerties Dems are excited to welcome the new Ulster County Democratic Party leadership team, including Chair Andy Cowan and 1st Vice Chair Ann Peters, both from Saugerties! This dynamic new Executive Board will bring fresh ideas and vital energy to meet the challenges ahead. Congratulations!

We're excited to introduce UCDC's 2026-2028 leadership team! County Committee members from across Ulster convened to choose the following leaders:

Party Leadership:

County Chair: Andy Cowan
First Vice Chair: Ann Peters
Vice Chair of Voter Outreach: Joey Betras
Vice Chair of Fundraising: Chelsea Miller
Vice Chair of Communications: Dan Torres
Vice Chair of Diversity and Party Building: Latish Kentop
Vice Chair of Campaign Support: Eddie Monroy
Secretary: Brian McHugh
Treasurer: Amee Peterson

Ethics Commission:

Chair: Russell Gilpin
Vice Chair: Jillian Jackson

"Ulster County Democrats are united and ready to win," said newly elected Chair Andy Cowan. "Local families are feeling the impact of Washington Republicans’ chaos every day—at the grocery store, the pharmacy, and in the services our neighbors count on. This November, we have a chance to send a clear message to Washington. Whether you’re a lifelong Democrat, an independent, or a Republican who’s had enough, there’s a place for you in this effort. We’ll be in every town and hamlet, working to turn Ulster County’s frustration into action at the ballot box."

The officers will oversee voter outreach, fundraising, communications, party building, and support for Democratic candidates at every level. Their first priority is a countywide get-out-the-vote drive ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Early voting runs from October 24 to November 1.

We’re lucky to have so many fantastic Democratic candidates in Saugerties - we need to spread that big blue wave support all the way to Marlborough! Join County Legislator, Ann Peters for a phone bank (remote on Zoom) and encourage Marlborough voters to get out the vote for Laura Donovan, Laura only won her race by 36 votes in 2024, so every call counts!

🚪 296 doors this weekend - but we need MORE!

There are still neighbors who don’t know there’s an election coming up, when to vote, what’s on the ballot, or who the candidates are.

New to volunteering? No problem! We’ll pair you with an experienced volunteer.

Candidates need walking buddies to hit the doors and manage literature, and we need drivers to reach voters in our rural districts.

Have an hour? A Saturday afternoon? Please sign up. We need you out there!

📍 VISIT our campaign office at 258 Main Street in the Village of Saugerties

296 doors was just the start. Let’s reach a whole lot more neighbors this week 💙
