We don’t want to brag, but…. 😤🔥 Sausalito PD had the best section of the 2026 Torch Run and it’s not even close. Sure, there were hills. Sure, our legs are still mad at us. But we ran that torch through town and across the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 and it was iconic. Thanks for the handoff and + for the motor support .

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month 📲
Texting, scrolling, adjusting music, eating, or even talking with passengers are all forms of distracted driving.
As we head into spring with more people out and about, whether it is walking, biking, or enjoying the sunshine, it’s more important than ever to stay focused behind the wheel.
✔️ Put your phone away
✔️ Set your GPS and music before driving
✔️ Stay alert in neighborhoods and school zones
✔️ Speak up if you’re a passenger and see unsafe driving
🚨Throughout April, Sausalito Police Department officers will be conducting focused traffic enforcement targeting distracted driving to help keep our community safe 🚨
Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone.

PRESS RELEASE UPDATE
On March 16, 2026, at approximately 2:38 p.m., emergency crews responded to a vehicle that entered the water near Sausalito Yacht Harbor in the 500 block of Humboldt Avenue.
Following witness interviews and evidence collection, investigators determined the vehicle had been stopped near D Dock while passengers were loading items into the vehicle. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, traveled over a curb and barriers, and entered the water.
A passenger exited the vehicle prior to it entering the water and attempted to assist the driver. Southern Marin Fire personnel, with assistance from a private diver, recovered the driver from the submerged vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The decedent has been identified by the Marin County Coroner’s Office as Brian Mullins of Sausalito.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the response and was treated and released. The passenger did not require medical transport.
At this time, investigators do not believe this incident to be intentional. The cause of the sudden acceleration remains under investigation.
The Sausalito Police Department extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Mullins and thanks the bystanders, witnesses, and partner agencies who assisted during this incident.
