The last owner of the farm was the family of Dr. Lamartine Griffin Hardman, the 65th governor of Georgia from 1927-1931. The Hardman family lovingly preserved the estate and donated it to the state of Georgia in 1999. Included in the donation were the gazebo-topped Native American burial mound, the house constructed in 1870 by Captain James Hall Nichols, and many outbuildings. The site is open 7 days a week from 10am-4pm March 1 through January 1 and Thurs/Fri/Sat January 2nd-Feb 28th. Self guided grounds admission is available each day from 10am-4pm. Guests can peruse the grounds, barns and outbuildings at their own pace. (Mansion is not included in the grounds admission--visitors must be accompanied by site staff inside the house.) Guided mansion tours are available Thurs-Sat. The approximately 55 minute tours begin at the top of each hour in the Hardman Farm visitors center. 🔥 The Original Makers of the Mountains!

Long before hardware stores and online shopping, the local blacksmith was an essential part of mountain life. Farmers depended on skilled hands to make and repair the tools that kept their homes and farms running.

At Hardman's Mountain Farm Celebration, you'll have the chance to see traditional skills like blacksmithing in action and discover just how much craftsmanship went into everyday life.

It's history with a little heat, a little hammering, and a whole lot of ingenuity!

🔥✨ What a night at Hardman Farm! ✨🔥

Our Fire & Shine Dinner was one for the books!

From exploring the farm and stepping inside the mansion with our costumed reenactors, to stories of Appalachian history, live music, and few booms (a few of thunder, and a few from an incredible black powder r***e demo)— the evening was full of the sights, sounds, flavors, and stories that make North Georgia so special.

And then there was the food! 🤤 A huge thank-you to Cowboys & Angels Restaurant and Bar Helen, GA for an incredible Southern-inspired dinner that had our guests raving — from the pork belly and steak tips to the fire-roasted corn, collards, and that unforgettable peach cobbler!

And of course, we can't forget our incredible musician, Steve Welsch who set the tone with his fiddle tunes.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out and made the evening so special. Your enthusiasm, energy, and love for Hardman Farm are what bring these events to life.

We hope you left with a full belly, a few new stories, and some great memories from the farm. ❤️

Got pictures from Saturday night? We'd LOVE to see them in the comments!
