Week 5 of Citizen's Police and Fire Academy was a wobbly one. We went through high/low risk traffic stops and used the drunk goggles for field sobriety testing. It was the perfect way to end our time at the PD before we start the last few weeks with Savage Fire Department- Minnesota!

This four-legged crew recently discovered an unsecured gate and made a run for it down McColl/Williams, eventually reaching County Road 5. A quick‑thinking resident alerted officers, who located the gang near Burnsville Parkway. Despite their best attempts to avoid capture, the group was corralled without incident and reunited with their owner.

Week 3 of Citizen's Academy was one for the books! We went through Use of Force and got to send off some sim rounds, do VR shoot/don't shoot scenarios, a round PepperBall exposure. It was filled with lots of laughs and lots of coughing!

Next week is Investigations and Crime Scene!

Last Saturday, our Savage Police Department team hit the field for the 6th annual Cory Slifko Memorial Softball Tournament! This event raises awareness and donations for First Responder mental wellness, and we were proud to be part of it for the second year in a row.

We may have gone 0–2, but we tripled last year’s scoring from 1 run to 3! Softball might not be our strongest skill, but we had an awesome time supporting a great cause. 💙
