🚜 A welcome step forward for Illinois farmers this harvest season!

Following President Trump’s executive order addressing dyed diesel, Governor Pritzker has taken corresponding action in Illinois, providing penalty relief for qualifying agricultural use of dyed diesel from bulk storage on highways and state roads through December 31.

I’m glad to see federal and state action aimed at helping farmers get their crops from the field to market. Supporting agriculture is something we should all get behind.

Details on tax obligations and implementation still need clarification, so farmers should watch for updated guidance from the Illinois Department of Revenue and Illinois Farm Bureau.

Let’s build on this progress. House Republicans have proposed reducing Illinois’ sales tax on motor fuel to deliver additional savings for farmers, truckers, families, and businesses.

Honored to receive the Illinois Farm Bureau ACTIVATOR Friend of Agriculture Award this morning at Edwards Apple Orchard–West. Thank you to the Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau for the recognition and a wonderful morning together.

Our farmers feed our families, support local jobs, and strengthen our rural communities. They deserve a strong voice in Springfield, and I’ll keep fighting for policies that help Illinois agriculture thrive.

Illinois farmers and truckers need relief. House Republicans have real solutions. Governor Pritzker needs to act!

As FarmWeek reports, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Corn Growers Association and Illinois Soybean Association are calling for relief from high diesel costs during harvest. Midwest Truckers is also urging a pause or reduction in Illinois’ sales tax on fuel.

I support these calls. The people growing our food and hauling our goods cannot simply stop buying fuel.

In May, House Republicans called for reducing the sales tax on fuel, a REAL opportunity to address affordability at the pump. Governor Pritzker ignored that call and chose to delay a one-penny tax increase instead. That was not meaningful relief... it was political posturing.

House Republicans have solutions to reduce fuel taxes, tackle rising energy costs, reform property taxes and hold mismanaged state agencies accountable. Those proposals deserve hearings and votes.

Farmers can’t harvest on press releases. Families can’t pay their bills with talking points. Illinois deserves results.

IFB, ICGA and ISA ask for help from policymakers to lower diesel fuel costs this harvest season.

On National Manufacturing Day, we celebrate the men and women who make products we depend on, support our families, and keep our communities strong.

I’m grateful for the support of the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA) and Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA). I’m proud to stand with our manufacturers and fight for policies that help them grow, hire, and stay here in Illinois.

That means affordable, reliable energy, fewer burdensome regulations, and more opportunities to learn a skilled trade.

You don’t have to wait until Election Day to cast your ballot. Vote early when it works best for your schedule or make your plan now to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.

However you choose to do it, know where you’re voting, know the hours, and make your plan ahead of time.

Early or November 3... make sure your voice is counted.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps support income eligible households with utility costs for natural gas, propane, and electricity.

Applications for eligible families will open on October 1st and will remain open through August 12th, 2027, or until funds are exhausted.
