Important Update regarding our Little Free Pantry!

Even though our front entrance construction will be starting soon(10/22/26), the Little Free Pantry will remain open during regular library hours. To access the pantry, please use our south side entrance.

Donations can also be dropped off at the circulation desk using this same entrance. We could use your help stocking our shelves, as many families in our community rely on the pantry daily. Right now, we are especially in need of:

*Canned and packaged soups*

*Boxed dinners*

*Canned fruits and vegetables*

*Canned meats*

A heartfelt thank you to everyone in the community who continues to donate and support our neighbors in need!

Important Library Update: Front Entrance Construction Starting This Thursday

We are thrilled to announce that the Savanna Public Library has been awarded a construction grant from the Illinois State Library to replace our front steps!

Construction will officially begin this Thursday, October 22, 2026. While we are excited to make these vital improvements to our 1905 Carnegie building, please note the following temporary changes to our operations during the construction period:

Entrance & Exit: The front entrance will be closed. All patrons need to enter and exit through the south side entrance.

Available Services: Library services will be limited to checking out books, faxing, printing, limited computer use, and reference services.

Cancellations: All library programs and the distribution of new microgreens are canceled until construction is complete.

Facilities & Computers: Because restrooms will not be available to patrons during this time, extended use of the computers and conference room will be temporarily unavailable. We kindly ask that all visits to the library during construction be limited in time.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to improve our library for the entire community. If you have any questions, please call us at 815-273-3714.

Help Keep Our Little Free Pantry Stocked! ❤️

Our Little Free Pantry in the library lobby is seeing a lot of use from local families, and we’d love your help keeping the shelves filled!

We are currently in need of the following items:

*Canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM, canned ham)

*Boxed dinners (e.g., Hamburger Helper, Kraft Mac & Cheese)

*Ramen noodles

*Bagged or canned soups (we currently have plenty of tomato and vegetable soup!)

*Breakfast items (cereal, oatmeal, breakfast bars)

*Pasta and pasta sauces

*Personal hygiene items (deodorant, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)

Whether you can donate a single item or a whole bag, every little bit makes a big difference for our neighbors in need.

📍 Where to donate: Bring items directly to the front lobby or circulation desk during normal library hours.
