MSU Savannah continues to track the tropical activity off the coast.
The NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances in the Caribbean and Atlantic with high percentage changes of developing late this week and into this weekend. As of now, there is no tropical weather warnings and/ or watches within the MSU Savannah Captain of the Port (COTP) Zone.
Currently, the ports of Savannah and Brunswick, and adjacent navigable waterways are open to all commercial traffic with the intent to remain open.
However, due to the uncertainty of the projected path of the storm, if the storm does move to a course that would affect the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick, the timeline to change PORT CONDITIONS could be compressed. We ask that as we continue to move into the weekend, the COTP Savannah is recommending that maritime interests continue to monitor the storm track closely, review vessel and facility readiness plans for heavy weather and prepare for the setting of Port Conditions, if needed.
Mariners and residents are urged to stay informed, stay alert, secure vessels, and monitor official weather updates. Preparation now keeps you safe later- stay ready and stay safe.
