Members of the 1-118th Field Artillery Regiment volunteered with P.A.C.K. (People of Action Caring for Kids), helping assemble food bags for children in need across our community.
P.A.C.K. plays a vital role in combating childhood food insecurity by providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals for weekends and school breaks—times when many children may otherwise go without. They also provide clothing and toys with personal shoppers for foster kids.
Our Soldiers were proud to support this mission and give back to the community we serve. Thank you to P.A.C.K. for the meaningful impact you make every day, and to our Hickory Soldiers for continuing to lead through service.

Hickory!
We had an incredible drill weekend filled with pride, tradition, and well-deserved recognition across the Battalion.
This year’s 2025 St. Barbara’s Ball was a tremendous success aboard the Savannah Riverboat! We were honored to welcome our guest speaker and fellow redleg, The Honorable Dr. Neal, and to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Soldiers and leaders.
BG Fryman, our Commanding General, presented the Battalion with two national awards:
🏅 The Walter T. Kerwin Jr. Readiness Award
🏅 The Major General Milton A. Reckord Trophy
These awards reflect the hard work, discipline, and dedication of every Soldier in the formation.
We also recognized several deserving Soldiers who were inducted into the Order of St. Barbara—a testament to their commitment to the Field Artillery and the legacy of our branch.
Additionally, F Company executed a successful Change of Command, bidding farewell to CPT Riliey Slavich and welcoming CPT Kelton King as the new commander. We thank CPT Slavich for her leadership and congratulate CPT King as he steps into command.
To close out the weekend, the Battalion held its Best Warrior Competition, where SPC Houpt and SGT Lazalde earned the titles of Battalion Soldier of the Year and NCO of the Year. Their performance and professionalism represent the very best of Hickory. Congratulations!

We spent the morning volunteering at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, helping rebuild animal habitats and support the incredible staff who care for wildlife in rehabilitation. Our team got hands-on restoring enclosures, clearing areas, and learning more about the animals that call the refuge home.
It was an amazing opportunity to give back, work together outside our usual mission set, and support conservation efforts right here in our community. Proud of our Soldiers for showing up—again—and making a difference.

Soldiers from the 1-118th Field Artillery Regiment volunteered for a trash clean-up in Brunswick, GA, near the Bravo Battery Armory.
The group collected numerous bags of trash and worked together to help improve the area around the armory. Efforts like this are part of our commitment to serving not just in uniform, but also in the communities where we live.
As the t-shirt says:
“Live Here. Serve Here.”
Proud to serve our communities on and off duty.
