Legislative Update

Hello NASCOE Members,

I first off want to congratulate both David Wayne, Kentucky, and Marcinda Kester, Florida, for being named SED for their states. They will both do great things for their state. NASCOE builds leaders and it’s great to have State Directors hired from within the agency with strong NASCOE ties. If you have not seen the press release for the announcement of FSA State Directors please find it here: https://www.usda.gov/about-usda/news/press-releases/2025/05/02/secretary-rollins-announces-new-state-directors-farm-service-agency-and-rural-development

Thank you, David Wayne, for all your work being our NASCOE Legislative Co Chair. Best of luck in your new role as Kentucky State Executive Director.

Many of our members have expressed concerns regarding possible changes to our benefits. NASCOE has created a "Call to Action" for members to reach out to their Congressional members urging them to protect our Federal Benefits. What an impact we can make if each person sends this letter. **Please make sure you do not do this on government time or equipment.**

For several years, beginning in the spring of 1918, a flock of sheep grazed on the White House Lawn. The famous flock was eventually sheared and two pounds of wool was given to each state. With governors acting as auctioneers, the wool was sold to the highest bidders and the proceeds donated to the Red Cross War Fund. The total raised for the Red Cross by the state wool auctions was nearly $52,000 πŸ‘€
