I’m at the Rx Drug Summit in Nashville for the fourteenth year in a row! This event has become a meaningful tradition for me, and I always look forward to hearing Dr. Nora Volkow speak about the ongoing challenges of the op**te epidemic. As Director of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Volkow’s insights are both inspiring and essential. Excited for another year of learning and connection with others dedicated to addressing this critical issue!

Austin would have been 45 years old yesterday. Happy Birthday to my sweet son. I miss you with all my heart and soul. If only I could have one more of your wonderful bear hugs and hear your contagious laughter again! 💜 Thank you, Austin, for being with me in spirit while we, together, help save other sons and daughters from dying from op**te overdoses.

Most fentanyl is found and seized from vehicles driven by US citizens at official ports of entry, according to a 2023 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report. Between January and August 2025, 78% of all confiscated fentanyl was intercepted at official entry points along the nation’s Southwest border.
