4-3 AHB "Brawler" Change of Command 2026

"Over the last two years this battalion has written one helluva chapter. You answered the call on the Southern Border; you went forward to EUCOM operating in Romania, Türkiye and more; you trained hard building outstanding maintainers, crew chiefs, pilots, pilot commands and AMC's."

On June 30, 2026, Lt. Col. Kenneth Dougher relinquished command of 4-3 Assault Helicopter Battalion, to Lt. Col. Michael Sudweeks during a change of command ceremony at Hunter Army Airfield. The change of command is more than a tradition, it's a reminder that while leaders may change the mission endures and the spirit of the battalion flies on.

PEOPLE | From FOS to Fort

After nearly nine-months, the majority of our 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade teams have returned to Hunter Army Airfield after supporting U.S. Army and NATO operations throughout the European theater. We were able to provide critical aviation capabilities, strengthen partnerships with allied nations, and demonstrate the professionalism, readiness, and commitment that define the Marne Division.

Thank you for the love and support from all of our families, friends and loved ones during this rotation, we are stronger because of you. We are also grateful for the Soldiers of Task Force Knighthawk for the communication, coordination and efforts to provide a smooth reintegration for our deployed teams.

After the transfer of authority ceremony with Task Force Gunfighters our command teams came together to recognize the significant efforts of our forward-deployed Task Force Vipers Soldiers who have helped make our transition back to our home station a possibility as well as all their contributions made during the rotation. READINESS | TF Vipers Transfer Authority to TF Gunfighters

On June 24, 2026, 1-3 Attack Battalion Task Force Vipers, officially transferred authority of their operations and area of responsibility to 1-1 Attack Battalion Task Force Gunfighters, at 33rd Airlift Base Powidz, Poland. This rotational handover underscores V Corps’ commitment to warfighting readiness, providing combat credible forces equipped with attack aviation as a cornerstone capability to remain lethal and agile in deterring potential adversaries.

🇺🇸🇵🇱 Mission complete. Another chapter in Dogface history.

After months of strengthening NATO's eastern flank, training alongside our Polish hosts and Allied partners, and demonstrating the professionalism and readiness of America's Army, the 3rd Infantry Division has officially concluded its deployment to Poland.

Today, we proudly passed the mission to the 1st Infantry Division, ensuring the commitment to our Allies remains seamless and unwavering.

To every Dogface Soldier who answered the call—thank you. Your dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence strengthened partnerships, enhanced collective readiness, and represented the very best of the 3rd Infantry Division.

As one division heads home and another takes the watch, the mission continues. We wish the Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division every success as they carry forward this important responsibility.
