These breathtaking spring wedding photos by Bud Johnson Photography showcase the timeless beauty of Old Fort Jackson, one of Savannah’s most distinctive waterfront wedding venues.
Featuring Georgia’s oldest brick fort, Savannah River views, memorable sunsets, Old Fort Jackson offers a historic, romantic setting just minutes from downtown Savannah.
From open-air ceremonies to covered pavilion receptions, celebrations are framed by rustic charm, scenic backdrops, and warm character.
Couples can even incorporate unique experiences like cannon firings, guided tours with uniformed soldiers, and rehearsal dinners on-site.
As a working museum managed by the Coastal Heritage Society, guests can explore the fort, drawbridge, and rich history throughout the celebration.

Today, historical interpreters at Old Fort Jackson fired three cannons in succession to welcome America’s tall ship, the USCGC Eagle, as it arrived in Savannah.
Coastal Heritage Society CEO Nora Fleming Lee was honored to be among the honorary guests aboard the vessel as it passed the national landmark on the Savannah River.
Pair your visit to Old Fort Jackson this weekend with a stop on River Street to tour the Eagle during its 2026 summer training tour honoring America’s 250th anniversary. Savannah is the first stop on the tour.
The ship will be docked near the World War II Monument on River Street. Public tour hours of America's only active square-rigger are:
Friday, May 8: 2-7pm
Saturday, May 9: 10am-4:30pm
Sunday, May 10: 10am–7pm
Old Fort Jackson is open daily from 9am-4pm. Daily cannon firings, historical weapons demonstrations, and activities for all ages.
