Honoring K9 Tusi

Today, we remember and honor K9 Tusi, a retired Narcotics Detection K9 who served the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office with dedication and excellence.

Born on February 2, 2012, Tusi began her formal K9 training in 2013 and became part of the CCSO family in September 2014. Over the years, she completed countless hours of training and contributed to many successful operations.

After a distinguished career, Tusi retired on February 27, 2020, and spent her retirement with the family of her handler, Sgt. Javier Valdes. On January 13, 2025, K9 Tusi was peacefully laid to rest, with Sgt. Valdes by her side.

Thank you for your service, K9 Tusi. You will always be remembered.

Today, we honor the legacy of Sheriff Cullen Talton, the longest-serving sheriff in the United States, who dedicated over 50 years of his life to the Houston County Sheriff's Office-GA. Sheriff Talton, elected in 1972, leaves behind a monumental impact on his community and law enforcement. Under his leadership, the Sheriff’s Office grew from just 28 employees to over 300, reflecting his commitment to service and growth.

Sheriff Talton’s humility, allowing his employees to shine, and his unwavering dedication to his community, made him a pillar of strength and leadership. He was not only an inspiration to those who worked alongside him but also a beloved figure across Georgia and the nation.

Our hearts go out to the Talton family and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. Rest in peace, Sheriff Talton—you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will forever live on.
