Bring the family, and your pets, and enjoy a festive afternoon filled with arts & crafts, kids activities, treats and food trucks, adoption specials and a shelter pet costume parade at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah’s Fall Fair!

Small dog lovers, this one's for you 🐾🧡

We know many of you are often looking for smaller dogs, and right now we have three sweet girls ready to find their forever homes!

🐾 Carmella – 4-year-old Papillon mix

🐾 Roxy – 3-year-old Shih Tzu mix

🐾 Gabbana (tan one) – 7-year-old Shih Tzu mix

All three came to us as strays, and now that their stray holds have ended, they're officially available for adoption 🥰

More than a month ago, Simmer was Thunderbolt Police Department 's K9 for the Day - and we can't believe it and I know they can't either, but Simmer STILL has not found her forever home.

We thought we would share what they had to say about her in hopes that we can get this sweet 3-year old girl adopted already!

"Simmer is incredibly loving, full of personality, energetic, and she rode around in the patrol car like an absolute pro. She’s the kind of dog who would be happy joining you for an adventure and then curling up beside you afterward for a well-earned nap.

She would be a great match for an active person or family who can give her the exercise, attention, and love she deserves."

Simmer loves running around the yard, playing fetch (returning the ball is optional in her opinion 😆), and spending time with her people. If you really want to win her over, bring snacks-food is absolutely the way to her heart!

This athletic girl is also quite the jumper, so she'll do best with a family that can supervise outdoor time and keep her safe. She is dog-friendly and has such a fun-loving personality.

Some happy endings are extra special… 💍🐾🥰

Meet Walter, who first came into our care in December 2023. He was adopted, but returned just a couple of months later in February 2024. Walter was a staff favorite and we never stopped believing his perfect family was out there.

With the help of the incredible Gianna Orrechio of Cash Money Canine, Walter spent months in board and train, working on becoming the very best version of himself. Gianna dedicated nearly a year to helping Walter, and we couldn't be more grateful for the love and commitment she poured into him.

Then, in January 2025, after more than a year of waiting, Walter FINALLY found his forever family!

But...his story doesn't end there. In fact, it gets even sweeter 😍

This weekend, Walter's parents GOT MARRIED, and guess who got to be part of their big day?!

From a shelter dog waiting for someone to give him a chance to a cherished family member celebrating his parents' wedding day. 😭 We couldn't imagine a more perfect happily ever after!

Congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you for giving our sweet Walter the life and love he always deserved.

Hockey players and rescue dogs - we love this collaboration! 🐾🏒

Recently, the Savannah Ghost Pirates reached out to us with an incredible opportunity. Thanks to their fundraising efforts, Rescue of the Game ads featuring our adoptable pets will be airing during select Ghost Pirates home games this season! 🧡

And what better way to celebrate than with a little help from one of the players themselves?

C***r, Simmer, Honey Dew, and Watson all got the chance to be featured and enjoy the spotlight. And while Watson has already been adopted (he is just too cute not to be included 😍), Simmer, C***r, and Honey Dew are still very much available -

🐾 Meet Simmer: This sweet, playful girl is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle companion, loves other dogs, and is always up for a game of fetch (although returning the ball is optional!). She's athletic, loves to jump, and will need a family who can keep her safe during outdoor playtime. Highly motivated by snacks, Simmer is ready to bring plenty of fun and love to her forever home. She has spent 211 days in our care and we think that is far too long for this adventurous gal. 🥺

🐾 Meet C***r: This fun-loving girl is equal parts zoomies and snuggles, loves adventures, playing fetch, and other dogs, and firmly believes she's the perfect size to be a lap dog! She's smart, super food-motivated, and would thrive with an active family who can keep up with her energy and continue working on her manners. C***r is more than ready to bring endless laughs, belly rubs, and love to her forever home!

🐾 Meet Honey Dew: This nearly 6-year-old sweetheart is a professional cuddle bug who loves belly rubs, tasty treats, and being as close to her people as possible (preferably in their laps!). She's a bigger gal with an even bigger heart, loves everyone she meets, and would be the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal, laid-back best friend, although she can be selective with other dogs. Honey Dew has a well-managed thyroid condition requiring daily medication (which we'll help cover!) and has spent 214 days with us - she hopes to find her forever family way sooner than later. 🙏

We're so excited for this opportunity to shine a spotlight on our adoptable pets and introduce them to even more people in our community.

211 DAYS. That's how long Dawn has been waiting for her next chapter. 🐾🥹

And if anyone deserves a happily ever after, it's this goofy little house hippo.

Dawn's story hasn't been an easy one. At six years old, she lost the person who had been her whole world. Their elderly father took her in and did everything he could to care for her, but when his own health began to decline, Dawn found herself without a home once again.

But here's the thing about Dawn. She hasn't let any of that dim her BIG personality. 🧡

She's goofy, affectionate, a little dramatic, and absolutely convinced that every available lap belongs to her. 😂 She makes the funniest grunts and snores, sings her own special songs when it's time to go outside, and does the cutest happy hops when she's excited.

She's a professional couch potato, a treat enthusiast, and a certified attention hog. Personal space? Dawn has never heard of it. 😆

Dawn needs to be the only pet in her forever home, without other dogs or cats. And trust us, she has MORE than enough personality to fill an entire house.

Dawn is currently living with a wonderful foster family while she waits to be adopted, enjoying all the comforts of home instead of spending her days at the Adoption Center.

But as wonderful as foster care is, Dawn still deserves something permanent. A family who will love her ridiculous little noises, celebrate her happy hops, and give her the stability she's been missing.

After 211 days in our care, we're hoping Dawn's next chapter is a whole lot less about losing and a whole lot more about staying.
