We have had a very busy beginning to 2020 in the Youth Room. We have added over 100 new books to our collection, including 25 new Graphic Novels, biographies, picture books and non-fiction books. All ages should find something of interest in these new books.

In 1987 Congress declared March as National Women’s History Month. We will have on display a variety of children’s books spanning the centuries and celebrating women in sports, government, science and education. St. Patrick’s Day books are also on display and available for check-out.

Storytime continues on Tuesday of each week unless there is no school (March 17th). Come and join the fun.

Visit the Library during the month of March and enjoy some “magical miniatures. The “Minilanders Club of Skidaway Island and Beyond” has loaned us some of their wonderful collection of handmade treasures in 1-inch scale to put on display. The exhibit will include “Room Boxes” filled with vignettes from builders’ fondest memories or experiences. You’re sure to enjoy a stroll through this tiny world.

The Village Library Buy A Brick Program

The Buy A Brick Program is a means of raising funds to support the Village Library. The bricks border the entry to the library. In addition to supporting the library by having bricks engraved with their own names, our donors have had bricks engraved with the names of their grandchildren, to commemorate the passing of a loved one, or to honor a friend.
Brick donations are $200 each. All contributions are tax deductible as the library is a not for profit organization. Brick donor forms are available at the library front desk. Checks should be made payable to The Village Library.
Thank you for your consideration.

The Landings Village Library

In 1990 a small but visionary group of people on Skidaway Island conceived the idea of a community library. It started out small with books donated by residents in a store front located in the commercial section of the island. Through the generosity of many people a building was constructed in 1996. Today we have close to 2,900 members and 24,000 books.

Unlike tax supported public libraries, we receive no funds from Federal, State or local governments. Our funding comes from membership fees, donations, book rentals, the sale of used books and engraved bricks. Because we are a Section 501 (c) (3) organization, all donations are tax deductible.
