The 200 Club honors the sacrifice of Sgt. Jacob “Jake” Gililland, who served 6 years in law enforcement until his End of Watch on May 26, 2022.
Sgt. Gililland dedicated his life to public service. He served four years in the U.S. Army as a Watercraft Operator, attaining the rank of Sergeant before entering law enforcement. He joined the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department in 2016 and later transferred to the Chatham County Police Department in 2019 where he served until his End of Watch.
During his time with Chatham County Police, Sgt. Gililland worked patrol on the east side of the county, became part of the department’s Training Division, and served on the SWAT team. Despite undergoing chemotherapy treatments, he continued training and earned the highest score in his General Instructor certification class. Shortly before his death, Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley formally promoted him to Sergeant. The department described Sgt. Gililland as a beloved officer whose courage, professionalism, and positive spirit deeply impacted fellow officers and the community.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa, and their daughter, Kinsley.

The 200 Club honors the sacrifice of Officer Anthony Christie, who served 3 years with the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department until his End of Watch on May 25, 2018.
Around 2:30 a.m., Officer Christie was assisting with traffic control. While seated in his marked patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated to divert traffic away from the crash scene, his patrol car was struck by a tractor-trailer. He suffered critical injuries and later died from those injuries.
Officer Christie was a U.S. Navy veteran who served 13 years as a Master-at-Arms Second Class before joining the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department in 2015. He was assigned to the Central Precinct and was recognized for his service, including helping rescue a missing child in 2016. His commitment to protecting the citizens of Savannah and standing beside his fellow officers embodied the very best of law enforcement service.
We continue to extend our heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to his wife, Nicole, family, friends, and fellow officers.
