We had the most beautiful weather for this year’s event! 🍂🎃

The Schaumburg Community Garden Club was once again honored to provide decorations for the kiddos at the Spring Valley Autumn Harvest Festival.

Our members truly enjoy spending time with the children as they decorate their pumpkins. These kiddos are incredibly creative, and seeing the smiles on their faces when they finish their pumpkins makes it all worthwhile! ❤️🎃

A heartfelt thank-you to all of our wonderful member volunteers who generously gave their time to help make this such a successful event. We also want to extend a big thank-you to all the families who gave us permission to take photos and share these special moments on our club’s page.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Spring Valley staff for all their help with setup and support. Your assistance is truly appreciated!

We hope you enjoy looking through these wonderful memories as much as we enjoyed making them! 📸🍁

If you happen to see yourself or your family in this post, please give it a like and share it with your family and friends. 🍂😊

Thank you for helping make this such a fun and memorable autumn tradition! 🎃❤️

🌱 A wonderful Tuesday to celebrate! 🌱

On Tuesday, September 8th, 169 pounds of fresh produce were donated to our local Food Pantry! We’re so proud to be able to share the harvest from our garden with our community. 💚

And there’s more exciting news — the shed is officially finished! 🎉

Eli (pictured on the left) is a Master Gardener intern and was a key helper in building the shed. We are incredibly grateful for his time, hard work, and willingness to lend a hand. Thank you, Eli! 🔨👏

Most of all, we are so very proud of our dedicated member crew. Their time, teamwork, and commitment make such a difference.

They are AMAZING!! 🌻💚

Jim will discuss the insects and spiders found in our local yards, and how to distinguish between beneficial "good guys" and destructive "bad guys". Only 3% of known insect species are actually agricultural or nuisance pests.

Jim Rowan is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University where he studied Biology, Geology and Art. He was an animal keeper at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo for 17 years, working with mammals, great apes and reptiles and even did a stint milking cows at the Farm-in-the-Zoo. Jim turned his hobby of photography into a small business, marketing his work to educational and magazine publishers, museums and advertisers and has nearly 1,000 photo credits to date. He has traveled and photographed in twenty-five countries and has developed 50 programs on travel, nature and history. He is a regular presenter at garden clubs, senior centers and the Geographic Society of Chicago. In his spare time Jim and his wife Jan re-enact 18th and 19th century history.
