To people in EMS, this day means a little more.

As EMS providers we know what it’s like to hear the tones, grab our gear, and head out without knowing exactly what we’re walking into. On this day 25 years ago, so many EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and dispatchers and other responders did just that—and some never made it home.

We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and coworkers who have carried that loss. We are proud to be part of a profession built around showing up when people need us.

Today, we remember the ones who didn’t come home and the families and coworkers who were left behind.

We remember. We honor. We never forget. 🇺🇸

We celebrated our retired fireman and our trustees with the annual golf outing. Devin Jepsen had the biggest celebration with a hole in one! Congratulations to Devin! And THANK YOU to all our past and present fire department members! We wouldn't be able to serve our community without your hard work and support.

HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR TUESDAY

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday for much of central and western Iowa, including Crawford, Carroll, Sac, Audubon, Calhoun, Webster, Greene, Boone, Dallas and Polk counties.

Heat index values could climb as high as 105 degrees during the afternoon and evening.

Hot temperatures combined with high humidity may increase the risk for heat-related illness. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, spend time in air conditioning when possible, avoid prolonged time in the sun, and check on relatives, neighbors, children, older adults, and pets.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 3:00 a.m. Monday for parts of Iowa, including Crawford, Carroll, Audubon, Calhoun, Greene, Guthrie, and Sac counties in west central Iowa.
