TITANIC:THE PEOPLE and THE STORY of the “UNSINKABLE” SHIP
Thursday, October 15
7:00 pm
Grace Episcopal Church
9 Browns Avenue, Scottsville

Travel back to 1912 to the fateful voyage of the “Unsinkable” Titanic as the story unfolds through the music performed on board the ship along with multimedia artwork.

Dr. John Sherer shares his lifelong interest in the Titanic by retelling the story of that maiden voyage, the people that sailed on her, and the many decisions that led to the sinking of the most luxurious and largest ship ever built.
Sherer also performed last fall, again at Grace Episcopal, to a large and captivated audience. He serves as Director of Music and organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he has an active music program, working with several choirs and hosting concerts throughout the year. A talented musician, known to play with energy and assurrance.
A program in the historic setting of Grace Episcopal Church is always a special night and the Wheatland Historical Association is honored to bring it to you.

OPEN HOUSE--THIS SUNDAY, SEPT. 27 from 2-4 pm
69 Main St. Scottsville
The season is winding down.
Don’t miss an opportunity to visit the historic Sage-Marlowe House.

The Wheatland Historical Association is excited to share with you displays of antique and vintage clothing. Browse through the many books of local history written by local authors, such as town historian, Barbara Chapman. Can you find your house on the antique maps? Test your knowledge of 19th century kitchen and household artifacts. Then wander through the rooms of the house and experience Wheatland as it might have been in the mid 1800s.

We welcome you to the “little gem” in the heart of Scottsville and we look forward to seeing you there.

A fascinating and fun time for the community with folk singer Allen Hopkins, as he took us on a musical journey to commemorate our country's 250th birthday. Stay tuned (see what I did there?) to this page for exciting details about next month's music performance. (Hint: iceberg)

Anyone recognize these miners? Would have been 1930? Could "Big Andrew" be Andrew Salyerd?

Come out and support music in our community! Let's celebrate America's 250th as the WHA presents Allen Hopkins performing on the historic stage of the Scottsville Free Library. Hopkins will take us, musically, back to the early days of America as well as a musical journey through our country's 250 years. As comfortable playing the banjo as he is the guitar, Hopkins plays a wide variety of musical instruments, including mandolin, autoharp, dulcimer, ukulele, dobro and concertina, to name a few. His knowledge of American musical styles and songs is well-known around the Rochester area and beyond and he has played with many groups and performers including Flint Hill Folk at the Genesee Country Village and Innisfree, a Celtic instrumental quartet.
The program is Thursday, Sept. 17 at 6:30pm., at the Scottsville Free Library, 28 Main St., Scottsville.
There is no charge for this program hosted by the Wheatland Historical Association. We'll see you there.
