Moosic Borough’s Community Day Open House was held on Saturday and I had the chance to tour the new Emergency Services Center.

Back in 2024, we were there for the groundbreaking, so it was great to return and see the finished building. State funding was secured to help support its construction, bringing Moosic’s police and fire departments together under one roof. This new facility is a major improvement for both departments and will better equip our first responders to do their jobs and keep the community safe.

Thank you to Mayor Bob Bennie, the Moosic Police Department and Greenwood Hose Company for the tour and to everyone who helped bring this project to completion. Congratulations to both departments on their new facility!

‼️Road improvements that were once years away are now underway in Pittston‼️

Resurfacing has begun on four miles of Main Street (Route 2004) and Route 11, a project that was not originally scheduled to receive this level of improvement for at least another five years.

Thanks to the 2026–27 state budget signed by Governor Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania is investing $775 million to accelerate road repairs across the Commonwealth.

Here’s what that means for our region:

✅ 4 miles of resurfacing underway in Pittston

✅ $53.2 million allocated to PennDOT District 4

✅ 79 projects receiving an initial $250 million in funding statewide

As Minority Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, I understand the importance of addressing our infrastructure needs before conditions deteriorate further.

It was a pleasure to be in Pittston with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll, District Executive Jonathan Eboli and Rep. Jim Haddock to highlight this investment. I appreciate Governor Josh Shapiro’s commitment to improving our roads and the PennDOT crews working to complete these projects across our region.

It’s been another busy few weeks across the 22nd Senatorial District! I joined Governor Josh Shapiro at Fidelity Bank to celebrate the grand opening of its new Corporate Center in downtown Scranton, celebrated the opening of COLTS’ new headquarters, stopped by the grand reopening of Movies 14 in Wilkes-Barre, had some fun hosting trivia with SWIF employees, joined the HTRC Community Center for the opening of its newly renovated gymnasium and wrapped things up with another great turnout at our annual Senior Expo! Always good to get out, see familiar faces and recognize the great things happening throughout our area.

Dickson City Borough – $216,500 for Rehabilitation and further development of City Line Park in Dickson City Borough, including a new baseball field, playground equipment, pedestrian walkways, parking and accessibility upgrades.

Lackawanna County – $75,000 to update the county’s Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan.

Moosic Borough – $24,700 to develop a Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan.

Valley in Motion – $100,200 to support public engagement for the South Scranton Connector Trail and implement recommendations in the Outdoor Town Action Plans for Carbondale and Forest City.

Wildlands Conservancy, Inc. – $105,000 for Delaware River watershed restoration efforts across Lackawanna, Monroe and Wayne counties, including dam removal, streambank stabilization and habitat improvements.

I want to thank Governor Josh Shapiro and DCNR for their continued investment in our communities. I look forward to seeing these projects move forward.

Congratulations to Dr. Joshua Cillo and Maria Cillo on their new ownership of Enhanced Hearing Specialists PA in Dickson City.

My District Director, Brian Doughton, joined them on my behalf for their ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Joshua and Maria recently moved back to Pennsylvania after living in North Carolina, and we are glad they chose to bring their experience back to this area and continue their careers here. Their work will help people of all ages stay connected and communicate with the people around them.

Congratulations to Joshua and Maria, and I wish them both the best as they begin this next chapter in Dickson City.
