Starting tomorrow, you might hear an unfamiliar unit number responding for Elsie Fire! We would like to introduce you to our Traffic Incident Response Unit with call sign 3480. This unit will be one of the first out units to respond to motor vehicle accidents in our district. Its purpose built with a specific focus on pre warning other motorists while firefighters and first responders are working on highway incidents. This unit carries special high visibility pink colored traffic management signs, cones, and other traffic control devices as well as being able to utilize the electronic variable message board mounted above the cab! We’re excited to get this unit in service, and continue to strengthen our response!

This unit was purchased and outfitted with equipment from a generous donor very well know to our district, Angela, we extend our sincerest thank you for your continued support of our district and our volunteers!

Today marks 25 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center. We lost countless American lives and 343 of our brothers and sisters in the fire service. Today is a day to remember their sacrifice, and remind ourselves that we will never forget.

This last week has been pretty busy for your Elsie Firefighters. Monday, we assisted Banks Fire with a technical rescue at a motor vehicle accident on Timber Rd. Wednesday the Mor Nor Wolf Fire broke out in the early afternoon. And Friday we responded to a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) on Hwy 26. The moral of the story here is that in the fire service we give and receive help where we can. In the past week we have received help on two multi alarm incidents from Banks Fire District 13, Olney Walluski Fire-Rescue, Cannon Beach RFPD, Seaside Fire & Rescue, Gearhart Volunteer Fire Department, Lewis & Clark RFPD, Hamlet Volunteer Fire Department, Knappa Fire District, the Oregon Military Department, Mist-Birkenfeld RFPD and Life Flight Network. Sometimes it truly does take an army, and we appreciate all of our partner agencies for coming to help us this week on two very technical incidents!
