We had an incredible time participating in Nathan Hale High School’s annual Unity in Community Day! Unity in Community is a student‑led, student‑organized seminar that brings Hale students together through workshops grounded in equity, race, and identity. Unity in Community celebrates learning and connection while encouraging young people to shape change in their communities.
We were honored to contribute to the event, share the work of our office, and discuss the importance of student and community member involvement in gun violence prevention efforts.
Many thanks to the event organizers for the opportunity to participate, and to the thoughtful Hale students for allowing us to learn with and from them.

🎉 Celebrating the successful completion of our Youth Ambassadors for Change Program! 🎉
Throughout the program, participants connected with community leaders, a state senator, and a local advocacy group to dive into what a public health approach to gun violence truly means. They explored how elected officials and community partners are taking action, learned how our state’s legislative process works, and gained an understanding of policy from the inside out.
Our youth ambassadors completed a SWOT analysis to assess what’s working in our county’s efforts to address gun violence and where we can strengthen our approach. They concluded the program with a policy development workshop, crafting their own priorities and justifications for each one.
We are incredibly proud of our youth ambassadors! 🧡
