Thank you to all of our Prop 1 supporters in this election season! We fought valiantly on the behalf of critical services, but in the end of the day we were not able to convince voters to expend resources in this difficult economic environment. Thank you for your countless hours of support and dedication to justice in King County!

Phenomenal news - King County has secured an agreement with Metro transit workers that waives COLAs for 2011. Now over 90% of county employees have joined efforts to save costs and balance the county's budget by giving up pay increases. This agreement is further evidence of a combined effort to make a difference in this difficult budget environment for all the citizens of our county. Now let's finish our work and pass Prop 1!

With fewer court staff, prosecutors and public defenders in our community if we make projected budget cuts, is this the future for King County?

State Supreme Court upholds Riverside County's dismissal of criminal cases The Legislature is blamed for the lack of enough judges to preside at trials. The ruling ends prosecutions for about 300 people.

"But elected criminal-justice officials and a majority of Metropolitan King County Council members note that Constantine has made progress in bringing down labor costs. Still, they say, the sales tax must be raised because existing tax sources haven't kept up with rising costs — a growing gap that has finally brought the county's ability to provide services to the breaking point."
