The "Iron Pigs" T-ball team at yesterday's practice. Yes, they need a little more work.

Washington News Council
Bringing back TRUST in our news. http://wanewscouncil.org See http://wanewscouncil.org and http://taoofjournalism.org
Every April 1 for many years, I posted an April Fool's Day press release from the WNC. One said were moving to London to become the World News Council. It was amazing how many people actually believed it. Or maybe they just wanted me to leave town! 😄
Too bad there wasn't a National News Council to review the Sarah Palin vs. New York Times case. News councils are much more efficient and less costly than libel suits.
We tried to hold the news media publicly accountable for 15 years, but they resisted. Too bad. It would have increased their public trust.
Is the White House being Transparent, Accountable and Open? If not, why not?
Just listened to a lengthy panel on the Future of Journalism. No mention of the need for media Transparency, Accountability and Openness to help gain public trust. Sad.
A guy I know recently told me he had watched an entire WNC hearing on the TVW archives and he thought it was the best public accountability process for the news media he had ever seen. He's a journalist with a distinguished background. That was high praise. And he was absolutely right.
Last night I dreamed that the WNC was still alive, calling out inaccurate, unfair, unethical news stories and holding the media publicly accountable. Then I woke up.
Every state should have a news council. See aipce.net.
A friend of mine wants to bring back the Washington News Council to hold the media in this state publicly accountable. If anyone's interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch with him. 🙄
Thanks to all who keep Liking the WNC even though we shut our doors 5 years ago. Want to revive it? If so, let's talk. Maybe I can talk you out of that! ;-)
We held the news media in this state to their own ethics codes for 15 years. Did the WNC make a difference? You be the judge.
