West Seattle Tool Library runs on community, and we couldn’t do this without our volunteers. We’re currently looking for regular volunteer Assistant Librarians and Workshop Hosts on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Whether you love tools, enjoy helping people, or just want to be part of a welcoming community space, we’d love to have you.

Memorial Day weekend is a great time for a yard reset project.

Blast away winter grime with a power washer, then give old buckets, cans, or containers a second life as painted planters. We’ve got pressure washers, paint tools, and plenty of project inspiration waiting at the West Seattle Tool Library.

Thanks to an air pollution prevention grant from Washington Department of Ecology, West Seattle Tool Library now has 6 new electric chainsaws available to borrow. Compared to 2-stroke chainsaws, they help prevent up to 750 grams of ozone-forming pollution.

Come check out our inventory, learn new skills, and build with the community.

Happy Mother’s Day from West Seattle Tool Library 💐

Thank you to all the moms, grandmas, and caregivers passing down DIY skills—sharing your knowledge, your patience, and your love of making. Those moments stick, and they shape a lifetime of confidence and curiosity. We’re honored to support the tools behind it.

Monthly safety tip:
Always check for hidden wires or pipes before drilling into walls. A stud finder can help, but not all of them detect electrical lines unless they’re specifically designed to. When in doubt, double check before you drill. Still in doubt, ask West Seattle Tool Library for help.

Our Annual Tool Sale was a huge success!

Thank you to all the volunteers and board members who put in the time and effort behind the scenes, and to everyone who showed up, donated, and shopped—we couldn’t do this without you.

This year we had an amazing turnout and raised critical funds to support the work of West Seattle Tool Library. Every purchase and every hour volunteered helps keep tools accessible to our community.

We’re so grateful to be part of such a generous, tool-loving neighborhood. Until next year

Spring in West Seattle is a great time to tackle grass seeding. With mild temperatures and longer days, it’s a good window to fill in patchy spots or refresh your lawn before summer.

At West Seattle Tool Library, you can borrow spreaders, rakes, and other lawn tools to make the job easy. Whether you’re doing a quick fix or a bigger refresh, it’s a simple seasonal project that pays off in a greener, more usable yard
