Over the next few years, SDOT and Seattle City Light will install around 200 new curbside electric vehicle chargers across Seattle. We're now accepting applications.

Today, around 1 in 4 newly registered vehicles in the greater Seattle area are EVs. However, many people who live in apartments or rely on street parking don’t have consistent access to charging at home.

These Level 2 chargers provide 12-30 miles of range per hour. Our goal is to fill gaps in the charging network and help people who can't install chargers at home. All curbside chargers will be available to the public.

Last week, Seattle's Levy Oversight Committee went on a walking tour through the CID and parts of downtown to see and discuss Seattle Transportation Levy investments funded under our People Streets and Public Spaces Programs.

They had a chance to see the completed Chinatown-International District and Little Saigon Pedestrian Lighting Project, learn about our Alley Activation Projects in Canton Alley and Nihonmachi Alley, and hear about our downtown action program progress including projects delivered for FIFA.

Levy Oversight Committee members help keep Seattle moving by overseeing how Seattle Transportation Levy funds are spent. Their role is to monitor budgets, track progress on projects, and make sure the funds are used as promised to Seattle voters. They work with the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and SDOT staff to ensure transparency and accountability.

We’re beginning to design for the next phase of transportation safety improvements in Beacon Hill along Beacon Ave S. This includes the central segment and south segment of the Beacon Ave S Safety Project.

The project builds on previous upgrades completed in 2025 that transformed a section of Beacon Ave S and 15th Ave S through north Beacon Hill to support safer travel for everyone.

Beacon Ave S is part of Seattle’s High Injury Network - streets which have a disproportionate amount of crashes and serious injuries. On Beacon Ave S, there were a total of 242 reported crashes between 2021 and 2025, including 11 serious injuries and one fatality.

Whether you’re dropping your child off at Wing Luke Elementary (attended by around 350 students), grabbing groceries at Fou Lee or the Seattle Supermarket, visiting your doctor at PacMed or the Seattle VA Medical Center, heading to the Beacon Hill light rail station, or simply taking a stroll through Jefferson Park, we want you to get there safely and enjoy your trip.

Here's how you can get involved:

2. October 17: Visit our “pop-up” information table (11 AM – 1 PM), in the median pathway on Beacon Ave S, near the S Myrtle St intersection

RapidRide J update: we've started installing new bus station infrastructure in the U-District and along Eastlake Ave E - a major construction milestone.

Station amenities like lighting, benches, real-time arrival signs, and more will be added in the near future.

Work is more than 50% complete on this project, with RapidRide J service scheduled to begin next year.

FALL BALL IS BACK Y’ALL. And what better way to celebrate than with a steaming hot kupp of closures? We’ve got a full closure of southbound I-405 in Bothell, ongoing northbound I-5 lane reductions and an overnight closure of the I-5 express lanes in Seattle. Add Seahawks and Huskies football games to the mix, and you’ll definitely want a game plan before heading out.

-BOTHELL: SB I-405 will CLOSE from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12 between SR 527 and SR 522. The following ramps will also close at this time: SR 527 on-ramp to SB I-405, NE 195th on-/off-ramps to I-405 and SR 522 off-ramp to SB I-405. Crews will use this closure to work on drainage, pavement reconstruction and bridge repair.

-SEATTLE: NB I-5 express lanes will CLOSE overnight from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 to 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 to complete drainage work underneath the Ship Canal Bridge. The two right lanes of NB I-5 and the SB express lanes across the bridge also remain closed around-the-clock.

Before you grab your Paint Map pitchforks, we know there’s more happening this weekend than football. But if you couldn’t already tell, this isn’t a traditional Paint Map, so we didn’t pack this one with all the usual drawings. Consider this our little fall-football-freeway crossover episode.
