OLS alleged that Uber Eats failed to provide a deactivated worker with a notice of the records or evidence the company relied upon and a certified statement in response to the worker's challenge as required by the App-Based Worker Deactivation Rights Ordinance. To informally resolve the complaint, Uber Eats agreed to reactivate the worker and to pay the worker a total of $1,278.16, which includes $639.08 in civil penalties and $639.08 in fines.

OLS, Seattle Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, the Seattle Domestic Workers Standards Board, and the Seattle Labor Standards Advisory Commission are hosting a virtual Know Your Rights Training for workers on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm.
This training is designed to inform workers about how to ensure compliance with existing immigration and labor regulations and how to protect themselves in the workplace. We will have an immigration attorney, Adam Boyd from Gibbs Houston Pauw, as the main presenter, while OLS will present about local labor laws.
A Q&A session will follow the presentation to address any questions or concerns. Please note that the training will be conducted in English, but we can provide interpretation and translation.

OLS announces the availability of $130,000 in funding for a consultant to conduct mixed methods research on app-based workers in Seattle to compare working conditions in this industry before and after the implementation of the City’s App-Based Worker Minimum Payment ordinance, and to understand the impacts of the law.
