🏈🎉We have some 12s at UWPD (especially the lieutenant that fit a jersey over his uniform)! Wherever you're cheering for the Seahawks, let’s celebrate the Super Bowl the Husky way—smart, safe and looking out for each other.

✔️ Be a party MVP - volunteer to be a designated driver.
✔️ Enjoy a winning party - have plenty of snacks and nonalcoholic drinks. If you do have a drink of any kind, know where it's coming from and what's in it. Don't leave your beverage unattended.
✔️ Have a game plan for getting home safely - use your Husky Card for a free-to-you ride on bus or light rail, use a taxi or rideshare service or walk home safely with a sober friend or two.

Big plays, great snacks, and a safe night for everyone—now that’s a win. 🏆💜

It's test day! We're doing a test of the UW Alert system and UW Outdoor Alert system on UW's Seattle campus TODAY (Jan. 22) at 1:22 p.m.

The test is to help our community know how alerts work and what to do in the event of an active shooter attack.

📱 Watch for a UW Alert TEST message via text and email. Make sure you’re signed up for text messages at UW.edu/Alert
💡 The message will share what to do in a real emergency and where to find more info.
🔇 There will be no sirens, gunshot sounds or simulations during the test.

This drill is ONLY for Seattle. At UW Tacoma, the active threat drill is on Feb. 19. UW Bothell will also hold a drill during Winter quarter, with the date TBD.

See the following link to learn more and get ready for the test: https://www.washington.edu/uwem/drills/

This past Wednesday was a busy day for UWPD! We had an officer graduate from the Academy in the morning and our Annual Recognition Lunch later that day, where awards were given to two UWPD employees for Officer of the Year and Civilian of the Year; as well as to two of our UW Campus Partners, in recognition of their partnership with UWPD over the past year.

It was a well-attended event, only made possible by the hard work of the UW Alumni Association, and with lots of delicious food, catered by HFS!

Congratulations, everyone!

Yesterday was the Swearing-In Ceremony of Sgt. Junior Coffin, who is a UW graduate, was previously a detective with the department, and is now joining us again as a sergeant -- we are delighted to have him back! Congratulations!!

🩸 Heroes Needed This Wednesday (8/13) at UW Police Department!

We’re still looking for 15 generous donors to roll up their sleeves and donate blood at UW Police Department on August 13th—and we’re calling on you to help make a life-saving impact.

Think about how we often spend an hour: scrolling on our phones, catching up on a show… it goes by in a flash. But for local patients in need, one hour can mean the world.

In just one hour, you can donate a pint of blood—and that single act could save someone’s life.

Be a hero. Be the difference.

If you're eligible and willing to help, sign up now: https://www.bloodworksnw.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/redirectgroup.html?s=085A or contact Bloodworks NW directly at 1-800-398-7888.

This past week was our annual barbecue at UWPD! Delicious food grilled by Chief Wilson himself, an assortment of pies and other sweets, nice weather, and visits by friends from other departments, such as DCCS and Facilities, it was a lovely way to kickstart the summer!
