Greetings Licton Springs Families,
I am honored to be your new principal and look forward to working closely with your student and family this coming school year! It is a thrill to be a part of the Licton Springs K-8 family. I am passionate about the school's priorities of social justice, serving a diverse student population, authentic learning, and parental and community engagement. Because of my own tough educational experiences as a student, I'm also deeply passionate about alternative and innovative school models like Licton Springs.
This will be my sixth year as a principal and my 16th year as a public school educator. I believe in public education and everything it offers to families and students. Public education and service are core to who I am. My mother was an elementary teacher for 32 years, so I grew up around educators and have a great deal of respect and deep appreciation for teachers and other school staff. I consider myself a teacher first and am lucky that I get to come to work every day and support students alongside passionate and committed educators. I am particularly excited about all of the progress Licton Springs K-8 has made over the last few years under Principal Allphin’s leadership, especially last year’s increases in student achievement. Lisa and I have been meeting regularly to ensure a smooth transition.
Your student’s academic, social, and emotional well being are my top priorities. I want Licton Springs to be a school where every student can find joy and success. While I realize the school has a history of experiencing change and uncertainty, and our future location is currently uncertain, the following remains true: our beautiful, bright students will come to school this year eager and ready to learn and our staff will work tirelessly to support them. Together, we will ensure students are safe, happy, and growing socially and academically, and that 2019-20 is a great year for your children.
I will be in touch soon to announce upcoming family meet and greet opportunities and ways for us to get to know each other. This week and early next week, I will be focused on the school transition and getting to know our wonderful team of educators.
Thank you for allowing me to serve your student and family. If you need anything throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Licton Springs Leadership is looking to fill a couple of parent positions on the Building Leadership Team (BLT) for the upcoming 2 year term (Sept. 2019- Sept 2021).
Some information to note :
• you would be helping to create/update; Staff training plan, coming year school budget, CSIP plan, LSK8 decision making matrix
• We meet once or twice per month - could be more during budget planning - not every meeting is required, but we would hope you could attend most meetings
Please send an email to [email protected] if you would like to add your name to the list for consideration. Current BLT members will vote in September and let you know if you are selected.
