***rbar 🏡 Our October Spotlight includes Q***r the Land (***rtheland), whose work centers q***r, trans, and Two-Spirit Black, Indigenous, and people of color in resisting displacement and building collective ownership of land and labor. For Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re recognizing the connection between its inclusion of Indigenous and Two-Spirit communities and its focus on land and self-determination.

Three ways to give all October: donate directly to our featured organizations, add a $5 donation to your Q***r/Bar bill, or join us for Sunday brunch. Q***r/Bar donates 10% of Sunday brunch sales throughout October to Pride Asia, Q***r the Land, and Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center.

Seattle Hoodoo Society It's Hoodoo Heritage Month y'all! And the Seattle Hoodoo Society has two ancestral events lined up for Black Seattle.

Started by Mama Rue, Hoodoo Heritage Month is homage to and action in preserving and activating this BLACK ancestral practice. We invite our Black community members to celebrate with us.

Oct. 11th: Conjuring Communion in Solidarity with the Earth is a look at our allyship with the Earth and what rootwork, rootdoctoring, and herbalism require from us. This is co-hosted with newenglandhoodoosociety 's very own Roman Bolaji Johnson .

Oct. 25th: Seattle Hoodoo Arts + Culture Festival comes back for its 2nd iteration at the Indigenous Creatives Collective! Exhibits, performances, ritual and education abound. We are in need of vendors and artists for our exhibit, so please submit your works or business to us via the links in our bio!

Rest in power, KL Shannon.

KL was a force in Seattle.

An organizer, advocate, community builder, and someone whose presence and work touched so many people.

Her impact in the city is profound and the movements, organizations, and people she poured into over the years.

KL showed what it meant to show up, speak up, organize, and fight for our communities.

Rest well, KL. Thank you for everything you gave our community.

This year's summer camp cohort truly amazed us with their enthusiasm for getting to know and take care of our plant relatives! 🌱 With the support of Braided Seeds, The Herons Nest, and Beacon Food Forest, these curious and creative young gardeners tried new berries and herbs, collected and planted seeds, observed pollinators and other small critters, fed chickens and earthworms, made art (and a whole Burdock Buddy village!) with natural materials, and learned to take up space in and also honor the gifts of the great outdoors! 💚 We're excited for even more learning and growing together next summer! 🌞
