Today, our Viewlands community celebrated our incredible principal, Carrie Wheeler in receiving the 2026 Thomas B. Foster Award for Excellence!

Over the past several years, Carrie has led the Viewlands community with compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication through countless challenges. Maintaining stability, connection, and belonging for our students, teachers, staff, and families.

From greeting students by name each morning to championing equity and inclusion, Carrie leads with heart and puts students at the center of everything she does. This recognition is a true reflection of Carrie's dedication in building a school community where every child is known, valued, and seen. Congratulations, Ms. Wheeler 💙

This weekend is Orca Cup community event: Saturday, April 25, 2-4pm, Sandel Parkl! We have tons of fun planned for everyone. There will be friendly soccer fun, music, Ollie the Viewlands Orca, and extra activities like the park and lawn games, snacks, and stickers. We hope to see you there!

Join us for one of Viewlands annual community events—Orca Cup Soccer!

📍 Sandel Park

This free, all-ages event is all about fun, teamwork, and community-building. No soccer experience needed! Kids will enjoy warm-ups, drills, friendly scrimmages, and the always-popular kids vs. adults game. For students who want to try something else, the park is open to play with friends.

🎉 Plus: music, snacks, stickers, a photo op with the Orca Cup trophy, and Ollie the Orca will be there for high-fives and photos!

Bring the whole family, cheer on our players, and help us build a strong, connected Viewlands community 💙💚

🎨Join us next week for Viewlands Evening of the Arts & Culture: Expressions of Joy! Bring the whole family along for hands-on art activities, music, student & staff artwork showcased throughout the school, and even a special VamoLa Brazilian Drum Performance @ 6:00pm!

✨New this year: We are excited & honored to feature an art installation from The ONYX Fine Arts Collective showcasing the artwork of local PNW artists of the African diaspora. Observe, learn, & discuss art with the artists! There will also be an opportunity to purchase artwork on site

🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🛴 Save the Date - Wednesday, May 6, is Viewlands Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day! 💙💚

Viewlands will celebrate the joy of active commuting and school spirit as we walk, bike, and roll together before school starts (7:10-7:30am commute; 7:30-8am celebrate at school). This is a fun, all-ages community event, and a great way to start the school day with energy!

⭐ Volunteers will lead bike and walk/roll groups from nearby meeting spots
⭐ There will be a celebration table at school with treats, stickers, an event poster to sign, free safety gear, and Ollie the Viewlands Orca
⭐ Let’s fill the sidewalks and bike lanes with Orca pride!
⭐ Carpooling or taking the bus? You're included too! Thank you for lowering your environmental impact!
