Siblings need each other. At Amara, we try to keep siblings connected while they're in foster care, whether by helping foster caregivers care for sibling groups or by supporting connection between foster families & the families of the child(ren) in care.

Our family has to have a stay-at-home parent.
NOT TRUE! If a single parent works or both parents in a couple work, DCYF will cover childcare or before/after school expenses, as long as they attend a site accepting DCYF subsidies.

Visit our no-hassle Family Resource Center in Tacoma for help with immediate needs, like food, clothing, and diapers, and for connection to other resources such as baby necessities, transportation, and more. The Pierce County Early Childhood Court program, a partnership with Amara and the Pierce County Juvenile Court, received the Lee Ann Miller Award! Given by Washington State’s Children’s Justice Task Force, the award recognizes programs that have made an "outstanding contribution toward advancing the goals of the Children’s Justice Act.”
