Spring is the perfect time to get ready for a safe and fun boating season. U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary units in our area are offering "Boat America" - a one-day course which will help you get your Washington State Boater Education Card. You'll learn basic boating safety information and get your boating questions answered - whether you have a large power boat or want to get in to paddling this year. This is a great course for families or groups of friends to take together so they can gain the knowledge they need to enjoy boating! The next Boat America course in the greater Seattle area is coming up is March 22nd at Normandy Park City Hall (close to Seatac, Burien and Des Moines). Cost: $20 for adults; students ages 12-18 are only $5! Here's the link to sign up: https://app.univerusrec.com/normandyparkpub/courses/index.asp

Local Coast Guard Auxiliary boat crews were on hand to es**rt the Coast Guard's tallship, United States Coast Guard Barque EAGLE when she arrived in Seattle yesterday. The Auxiliary teams came from all over the Puget Sound area to participate in the es**rt and then do training patrols in the area for the rest of the day.
Public tours of the ship are going on now until 7 p.m. this evening at Pier 66 in downtown Seattle. Free! The Eagle will be leaving tomorrow, so this is a rare chance to see her before she heads back to the East Coast.

There will be a rare opportunity for the public to tour the Coast Guard's tall ship, the barque Eagle, next week at Pier 66 in downtown Seattle. The ship rarely gets to Seattle. See post below for your times.
